He was born on October 13, 1961, in Chlef, Algeria. He pursued his academic journey with dedication and passion, earning several prestigious degrees in the field of chemical engineering. In 1985, he obtained his Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering from the National Polytechnic School in Algiers, Algeria. He continued his studies in France, where he completed a Diploma of Advanced Studies in Process Engineering at the National School of Electrochemistry and Electrometallurgy in Grenoble in 1986. Subsequently, he earned his Ph.D. in Chemical Engineering from the National Institute of Applied Sciences in Toulouse, France, in 1989.

Throughout his illustrious career spanning over three decades, Mustapha Douani has held various academic and research positions, demonstrating his expertise and commitment to the field of chemical engineering. He served as a Researcher at the National Polytechnic Institute of Toulouse, France, from 1986 to 1989, where he conducted groundbreaking research in his area of specialization. Upon returning to Algeria, he embarked on a journey in academia, serving as a Professor and Researcher at the University of Mostaganem from 1990 to 2002 and later at the University Hassiba Ben Bouali in Chlef from 2003 to 2023.
